Martin Ožvold
Martin Ožvold's work spans scoring and sound design for films, theatre, sound installations, radio, and podcasts. He holds a PhD in Composition from the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno and studied electroacoustic composition at the University of Birmingham (MA), Sound Arts at Middlesex University London (BA Hons), and Sound Engineering at the SAE Institute London (DipHE), along with a postgraduate research internship at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague. From 2020 to 2022, he worked as a sound playwright and designer for the Emmy-winning, Prague-based film production Bionaut Films, creating sound design and music for the award-winning projects such as audio documentary series Anatomy of Fear or the feature film Runner, which was nominated for Lithuanian National Film Academy Awards for Best Sound Design. Notable achievements include composition and sound design for the play Holly Roth at the Slovak National Theatre, collaboration with the Birmingham Ensemble for Electroacoustic Research, and the documentary The Sound Is Innocent, which premiered at the Burning Lights International Competition at Visions du Réel. His works and collaborations have been presented worldwide at prestigious events such as the Berlinale International Film Festival, Mutek San Francisco, The Third Coast Audio Festival in Chicago, and the National Gallery Prague.
