FSME 840: W ’en I listen

Martin Ožvold and Elia Moretti discover a functionally subordinate musical experience by synthesizing exchanges of ideas, writing, performance, recording, digital reconfiguration, and a touch of mysticism drawn from contemporary philosophies of sound and listening, along with insights from YouTube gurus' videos, they conduct guided experiments to explore potential ways of configuring listening situations within an acousmatic medium. So, what is happening when we listen? /more

FSME 840 is a collaborative investigation to explore the concept of "the Music to Come," a term borrowed from French composer and writer François Bonnet, who suggests that music remains to be discovered and is still hidden. The music to come is not something that the composer creates alone, but rather the many relationships that one composition can produce with its listeners. The music to come is the pure and subjective moment of our listening experience. If we shed our cultural baggage and expectations of rhythm, melody and meaning, what we are left with is pure sensation — an experience of being displaced from who you are and engaging in a kind of bare relationship with your own perception.
