Elia Moretti

Elia Moretti's research focuses on contemporary music theatre through an ecological perception of sound. He’s completing a practice based PhD at Charles University on the performativity and agency of sound. In 2022, he received awards from Phonurgia Nova and the Palma Ars Acustica from the European Broadcasting Union for the radio play "Once Enea Stuck an Apple Seed in My Ear." He graduated in percussion from the Nicolini Music Academy and in social sciences from the University of Pavia. As percussionist, he has worked with ensembles like New Made Ensemble, Prague Music Performance orchestra or MI-65, performing at various festivals. Elia co-founded the performance art group Ferst Dadler and has composed for theatre and dance companies in multiple countries. He has curated events such as the series Carpathian New Wave (Wave, Prešov) or Earday (Punctum, Praha). He has conducted ethnomusicological research in Moravia, Maramures and South Bohemia and worked on pedagogical projects at several theatre academies.
